QA: Why does relaxing help prevent herpes outbreaks

Question:

I was told by a doctor that when I get an outbreak of the herpes simplex virus, I should take some medication but really also try to relax. How does relaxing really help my problem?

Answer:

Relaxing, or rather, reducing stress in your body strengthens your immune system which in turn helps it fight off the effects of the herpes simplex virus. By improving the condition of your immune system, you get less outbreaks because the HSV is suppressed, therefore reducing the incidents where you get an outbreak of blisters and cold sores from having either oral or genital herpes. You have to try out other important herpes treatments.
